CRUSADER I
I started building knives 55 years ago. With this knife I incorperated every individual skill I a have aquired in
that time. The blade is 10 1/2 inches long. The knife is 15 1/2 inches long over all. It's damascus steel made from 15N20
and 1084 high carbon steel. The center bar has 9 layers that are twisted. The outside bar has 300 layers with a ladder
patternn and is wrapped completely around the center bar. (see tip of blade) The recasso is engraved with a grid pattern over
my logo and Master Smith stamp. The damascus guard and butt cap have 200 layers of the same material with a different pattern.
They are also engraved with a grid pattern. The butt cap has the letters RIP carved in it. The coffin shaped handle is made
of ivory from the tusk of a wolly mamoth. It is inlaid with an ebony cross that has an engraved sterling silver cross inlaid
in it. The guard and butt cap wrap around the ends of the handle and are held in place with sterling silver pins.
| LIVER CUTTER |

LIVER CUTTER ( SOLD )
The early Scotsmen sometimes called a large bladed knife a liver cutter. That name just sounded right for
this knife. When I designed this knife I was influenced by weapons of the early Scotsmen, Vikings and Romans
at the time when they were all in Britain. The phrase engraved on one side of the blade was sometimes engraved on weapons
of that time and place. This is Latin for "No one harms me with impunity". I engraved the thistle plant on the blade because
it's the national plant of Scotland.
The 11 1/4 inch long and 1 3/4 inch wide blade is made of 5160 high carbon steel.
The oval guard is made of the same material as the blade.
The handle is made of African blackwood.

This Knife won the "Best Damzscus" Award at the Branson Hammer-In & Knife Show on Sep. 24 2011.
This knife is an European Quillen Dagger. If a Journeyman Knife Maker of the American Bladesmith
Society is testing to become a Mastersmith he or her is required to make five knives for review by the Board . One
of these knives must be an European Quillen Dagger. This knife is mandatory because of the superb skill level required
to build this knife correctly. For most Mastersmiths this is the only quillin dagger they will ever build. I have
built several of them because I like this style of knife and the challenge of making something difficult. The 9 1/4" blade
is made by forge welding a 300 layer ladder patern bar of danascus steel around a 9 layer bar of twisted danascus steel. The
guard and buttcap are made of twisted demascus steel. The handle is made of ivory from the tusk of a wolly mamoth.

Competition Cutting Knife
w/weathered redwood handle
This is the same high performance camp knife as my "field grade" Competition Cutting Knife (see COMPETITION KNIFE web
site page) with a few aestetic upgrades. I put a hand rubbed satin finish on the 5160 high carbon steel blade. I
upgraded the handle to stablized redwood with a weathered and pollished finish. I replaced the brass pins and thong hole liner
with stainless steel and sculptured them to match the grain of the wood.
